Default Calling Brits in the Raleigh, NC area!

I'll be there this weekend (flying out tomorrow for a couple of days).

What I really want to know is has the Fox & Hounds in McGregor Village reopened yet?

Hate to break it to ya' but the Fox and Hounds in Cary is no more. Nada.

Instead it's turned into some Brazilian churascurria (of however it's spelt).

Suggest you go to get your beer fix at the Hibernian (branches in Cary & Raleigh and there is a website). I hear it's good.

Please report back on wherever you go. I'd be interested.

(Karma would be appreciated for this post )

Just interested NCP, do most of the expats in Raleigh work in the biotech industry?

No. I knew of one but he got a better offer back at home and jumped ship. Brits in the Triangle area I know work in so many fields:

IT, academic research, IT component manufacturer, a couple for a biotech company I believe, one as a realtor, one for a local univ., at a vets, etc.

Why do you ask?

Just didn't know what was in the Triangle other than Boitechs. Hoping one day we could move there for work and actually be able to afford to buy a house!

I know we aren't talking UK prices, but are houses very expensive there?

I'll probably be moving to Apex/Cary permanently in about 12-18 months time.

I don't know how house prices compare to where you currently live in KS. I would suggest searching on www.realtor.com. This is the site I used when looking for a house earlier this year.

I will tell you that Cary is probably considerably more expensive than Apex.

When looking for a realtor, I would suggest you go with personal recommendations instead of suggestions from complete strangers. This is how I found my wonderful realtor when I bought my house.

Isn't everyone a stranger until you meet them?

I was just in Chapel Hill last night. I erected my mother-in-law's ridiculous 9ft artificial Christmas tree with built in fairy lights.

So, what did you think of Chapel Hill? CH is quite different to Durham or Raleigh due to the presence of UNC...

Chapel Hill needs more streetlights; at night it's like driving around the Black Forest. I got married at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham, incidentally. My wife was brought up in Cary. So I've spent a lot of time around the place.

I wasn't in town yesterday just to erect a tree; I was actually in RTP for the day to see a guy (a few guys actually) about a thing.
