Also meant to add how very sad that is that no one gave Floyd Patterson just one moment of silence and respect.... and Don King is an idiot and he makes me sick, especially after this show of disrespect....the man obviously has no manners or dignity.....

Similar to the Calzaghe-Lacy fight earlier this year, when Calzaghe danced rings around Lacy and picked him off. The only difference was De La Hoya got a TKO in the 6th, whereas Lacy went 12 rounds.
Oh! Thank god Oscar didn't get hit too many times... Oh!, Man...I wish I could have seen that fight! and so glad that it only went 6 rounds..... as fit and wonderful as he is, Oscar is getting up there in age as far as boxing goes... Plus, I wouldn't want that beautiful face of his to get messed up.... he he...... Viva! De La Hoya!! Thanks again for the response....... Have a great weekend!

Don King got his lucky break when he acted as a promoter for the 1974 Ali V Foreman fight known as ' The rumble in the jungle' as it took place in Zaire. The Govt of Zaire basically put up the $10M or $20M fight money which big mouthed Don basically got a good whack out of ( pun intended) off the backs of the two fighters . The whole episode is documented in the 1996 'When we were kings' movie;

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118147/

Marco Antonio Barrera V the younger Rocky Juarez tonight on HBO

Thank you for this info..... I know all about this particular fight and the way Don King got there....I should have ended my statement by saying "Don King got lucky...." and not added the "somehow".... but thanks again my fellow boxing fan......

Mike Quarry younger brother of Jerry Quarry ( fought Ali) just passed away from pugilistic dementia ( caused by blows to the head), which also took his brother in 1999, both were under 55 years old;

Who said boxing is a barbaric, dangerous sport???

The 20th of Jan isn't a great date for me though - not sure if I'll be able to afford it which would be a major b*ll*cks

The Paris called me to ask where I wanted to sit before they went on sale, due to the amount of times I'd called previous, nice touch.
