If you buy a business here, you will work harder than you have ever worked before. Many members on Ray's forum will attest to this. My OH works for a large company, does longer hours, has way more responsibilities, only 12 days vacation a year, and all the recognition for it goes to the bosses who network on the golf course. Who gets to enjoy the sunshine when you're working your arse off?
As someone else said, the sun gets boring and tiresome, just as the grey rainy days do in UK. It's just the weather, it can't suddenly make everything hunky dory in the world.

Delray Beach, FL (Palm Beach County)
Hollywood, FL (Broward County)
Deerfield, FL (Palm Beach/Broward line)
Boca Raton, FL (Palm Beach/Broward Line)
Now, bearing in mind the maximum distance between those 4 places is about 30 miles...

Also, the 'majority' of CA is far more expensive to live/buy property/rent than the 'majority' of the UK. Even food, which most people are somehow led to believe is dirt cheap just because steak is a bargain.. Balances itself out, in fact I'm sure my food shopping costs quite a bit more here than it did in the swanky Waitrose in Brighton I used to shop at.
Don't come here just because you think bills are going to reduce, because in a lot of States, they just aren't.
I say stick with it though... Don't let any of the naysayers here get to you. I'm sure (actually, I'm 100% positive) if I posted here when I first started researching back last summer, asking for help, and asking what CA is like... I'd have been shot down like anything, especially given my age at the time (24) and experience (3 yrs).
Now that I'm in the 'exclusive club' though, I guess I should be pissing on everyones bonfire too, eh?
I love threads like this:
