Default cable, internet and phone??

so ....

as I understand Cable is better than satellite, and with someone like Optimum you can get all 3 services together.

anyone done that? Is it worth doing?

what providers have people got for tv and internet and are they good?

does anyone know where I can compare prices for the services??

Brighthouse apparently they rate high in JD Power customer surveys I used them before they worked fine and I had no complaints

Consider using a VoIP service for your telephone rather than taking it through the cable provider.

I found the differences were only a few $ per month between cable and satellite. I went with DirecTV (satellite) since they provide BBC America as part of the basic service; with Cox (cable) it would have been an extra $15 per month...

I think it depends where you're going to live... Adelphia cable where we are sucks arse, so we have satellite TV which is normally OK except in hurricanes, but my in-laws cable goes out during hurricanes too; satellite comes back on as soon as your power is back.

Adelphia doesn't exist anymore, it's now Time Warner.

Choice of providers may depend where you live...we have a choice of one cable provider and one land phone provider. The small town where we live only allow the cable company we have now to operate...they have had the monopoly for many years.

Before switching to cable, check to see they have exactly the channels you want. Bear in mind that there aren't any taxes on satellite, but there are on cable, which they don't tell you about on the adverts.

We're sticking solidly with DirecTV as there are a TON of channels we just can't get on cable unless we get their highest-priced package, like IFC, BBC America, Speed, and a ton of others.

We've got Time Warner and they seem fine. There is another cable company that covers other parts of town--wasn't an option for us so we didn't look at them. We upgraded from the base package to get BBC America, Fox Soccer and a few others. Internet speeds are good-no problems, and the phone includes unlimited long distance (to North America only).

We can't put a dish up here (renting) so our choice was pretty easy. I've heard good things about Direct though, esp if you want more sport channels (Setanta).

Best bet is to check the options in your local area and see who offers what, if there are any channels in particular you want.

A perfect reason not to go with Directv

We have no choice for cable....we can only have Adelphia who have just been taken over here by Comcast. We have our internet with them. Our phone is with Vonage and we are so far very pleased with them. Can't say the same for Comcast....we can never get movies on demand at peak times!Life is so hard.

I'd take satellite over cable - never had any issues, but it might depend on areas

Comcast aren't to bad, but it depends on where you live.

There's also RCN, who aren't that great, Time Warner etc...

sat in dodgy areas tend to go out more often though, windy out, or if it snows, it'll knock the dish out of sync...the in-laws have a lot of fun with that, but they don't have a choice as there isn't cable run up to where they live *lol*
