OK ... I'm still looking for the perfect stick/manual shift car ... and have been looking at the Toyota Corolla ... anyone have/had a stick/manual shift Corolla and willing to share their opinion about this car. To me, it looks like an economical reliable car.

Not experience with driving them in the US...but in the UK...they weren't bad, boring cars to drive, but very reliable and good mileage...

You can get a stick shift Focus in the US. It's not a bad drive at all but I find the right side driver's armrest is a bit awkward. It's really my only complaint driving one.
