Default buying Property abroad

Hi

Currently I live with my wife USC in US . We are thinking in buying a property abroad and we think in Costa Rica . we think also to retire there

We think in wire transfer but what is the maximum amount to wire transfer from our bank account in US to our bank account in Costa Rica when we open one . I hear many complications for the people who wire large amounts . please let us know what is the maximum amount we can wire there to put our down payment ?

Thanks

Ask your bank, they should know.

The only problem I can think if is that large amounts get reported to the government, which isn't generally a big deal.

We need to transfer amount around 120k . Is this a large amount for wire transfer . If wire transfer has problems for large amounts then can we write a cheque . I am not sure about the process for clearing the cheques for foreign entities
