Re: Buying a house in the US
So you paid the mortgage broker, I guess?? What crazy things did they ask for??
I think my husband is just planning on talking to his regular bank first of all...I think he's been with them for quite a long time and they know him as a reliable client. First we have to get there in one piece (or, rather, four!!)
Thanks for sharing that information, though - I didn't even know there were mortgage brokers :-))

The underwriters are very picky and go through everything with a fine tooth combe.
They asked stuff like if the house had city water or a septic tank.
There was other stuff on the apprisal which my mortage broker worked on.
Copies of Greencard required.
They wanted to know why Directv had checked my credit. We need a copy of this and that
Lets just say the underwriting is the most stressful part.
A mortgage broker will work with more then one lender so he will have knowledge of the best lender that will accept you with regards too your circumstances. A banks loan officer only has the banks interest at heart and a mortage broker may be able to get you a better rate.
But what makes me laugh is that my mortage was done with a bank in Tennesse who sold mortage on too Chase Bank. I already bank with Chase.

For predators, it was mainly foxes (although we never used to let our cat out at night in the UK) and the possibility of picking a fight with a raccoon.
