Default Buying a house/apartment - HELP!

Hi,

The missus and I would like to buy an apartment in Manhattan within the next 6 months or so.

Problem is, I am still on my H1-B visa and have only just sent in the paperwork for my AOS & greencard.

Will the fact that I don't as of yet have my greencard make getting a mortgage/loan difficult?

Any other expats out there with a bit of advice to offer?

Thanks

Chris

Quick and simple answer - no. You can a mortgage without a green card. You have to shop around and usually have to have 20% deposit to put down though.

as far as I am aware you are fine, <editted to pick up on Patrick's 20% down is a usual stipulation though>
I know a few other people who have bought on a H1B visa.

wonder what 20% down on a manhatten apartment is? :scared:

You don't need a GC to get a mortgage.

Did you search for other posts on this (like the one from about 2 days ago)?
