Buying British food on line.
Last year my wife ordered a few British goodies for me as a Christmas gift, among them were 3 boxes of Mr Kiplin bramley apple pies, she had them shipped from somewhere down in Florida. I tucked into about 3 of the pies and fell very ill within 2 hours. Dr said it was food poisoning. We contacted the supply company to complain but they ignored us until we contacted Mr Kiplin directly and gave them the code on the boxes, it seems they were 2 years out of date, we contacted the shipper again with this news and said we would make it public, we received a full refund withing 3 days.
Just be warned ! These items have codes and no dates on them and as much as I love those pies I will order no more.

Ah, the dreaded Mr. Kipling pies again!
Here's a link to a thread from 07 when I was complaining about the same thing. They seem to have "solved" the problem.....by coding the sell by dates!!

Oh, my...we get Branston down the local budget store...I'm sure it's a few decades out of date, lol! Still, those pies aren't cheap...and it stinks that you got sick from them. I guess you really just have to hope the sellers are trustworthy when you buy food from online retailers. I am ordering some things through Amazon for Christmas for the kids...hope the choccies are in date!
