My mother tells the story of a guy who used to come into my grandfather's store (he had the post office and store in town) every Xmas eve to buy his wife a new broom. I suspect it was not a joke nor an affectionate gesture....

I think most women have had that idea for their hubbies a few times in their lives, even more especially after the turkey and sprouts

My ex-husband bought me a case - not a box - a CASE of Maltezers for Christmas one year! Great present. Of course, that was when we were young and in love ...

I got the carving knives last Christmas and didn't know whether to stab him with one of them or slit my wrists.

Not surprisingly, never watched.

I got a Viz annual and swearing dictionary one year. It's the thought that counts.

pmsl!!! reading these posts all your gifts sound crap!!! men are totally clueless...that's why we have to TELL them what we want.....after 10 years of marriage I have no problem telling my husband what I want....the thoughtful romantic part is that he goes and buys it or is with me when I am buying it and pays for it

One Xmas ...oh about 4 no 5 years ago....I made the big mistake of telling him I didn't want anything...we were a bit skint and he always gets to extravagant at Xmas.....so I kept telling him I didn't want anything...really( and ladies you know I'm just talking about the expensive stuff)......... naturally I figured he'd get me a few openers..soaps, bath salts etc whatever I didn't care...just something to open on Xmas morning....he got me NOTHING...just like I had asked.............moron

*snorts*.. lol...no doesn't mean NO under CERTAIN circumstances...lol

I've never had the pleasure, but lived in a tiny little town as a teen, and worked Sats at a chain clothing store. The one Saturday, just before Christmas, in walks the local attorney (the only one in town, and someone I'd known for years), and asks me to get together 3 pairs of every panty, in all colors/styles, we had in size small as a Christmas gift for his wife as he was clueless as what to get her.

I would love to know what she clobbered him with when she got the prezzie.

For our first wedding anniversary this year, my husband didn't 'get' that a gift would've been appropriate so, crapping his pants over having got me zero, he ran out of the house, jumped in the car and drove into town. At 10.30pm I might add. When he came back I was presented with a basball cap with the logo of his university on it. I hid my disappointment about as well as Elton John hides his baldness and then went out and had a few large martinis.
Lets just say, we didn't do anything in bed except sleep that night.

Come my birthday, seems he learned. I got home-made fish n chips, a bottle of bubbly and a gift I really wanted and loved.
