My good friend tried Yang v INS which involved a U.S. Passport purchased for $60,000. Howard came within five votes of winning at the Supreme Court.

I guess this shows how out of date some people are.
It's rumoured the hottest item today for sale outside the USA is a US CLN (Certificate of Loss of Nationality).
I hope whoever is recording the IP address is recording that!

There was an interesting article in the Manchester Guardian about the global fake passport trade. Most of the 'industry' appears to operate out of Thailand, dealing in such high volumes that they can simply 'match' many a customer to a previously stolen passport. Fake passports for most western countries can be had for USD $1k - $3k.

In 1985, while respondent's naturalization application was still pending, respondent and his wife obtained another divorce in order to permit her to obtain a visa under her true name (as the relative of a daughter who had obtained United States citizenship).
So their daughter was born under the correct name and they must have presented their real identity in order to get her a real birth certificate, so mom decided she would rather be under her real name and someone at INS cottoned on with that application.
If it hadn't of been for that they might have gotten away with it.

Yeah, I wondered about that too.
Presumably the "real" passports are stolen from real people and may cost more....? Whereas the "fake" ppts are created ....? Fascinating stuff!

Altered real, legit passport/ID for a new pic.
Saying that, there's some cracking good fakes around. Won't stand to TSA scanning, but for every day usage they'll pass muster.
