Default Bush was Right - WOMD Found in Iraq

Fox is reporting that Chemicals weapons have been found in Southern Iraq by Danish Troops thus justifying the war.

Obviously the truth is they have been buried for 10 years and contain mustard gas - buried for 10 years means that they have been complety forgoton about and are not the womd we went in for - it will keep Fox News happy for a day anyway.

I wondered when the planted evidence would turn up, just in time for the start of the election year.

I'd hardly call dozens of shells which have an agent designed in WW1 weapons of mass destruction.

I know what you're saying and he's used them before in the war against Iran. It's hardly weapons of mass destruction though and that was the whole point of WW Gulf II in the first place (allegedly).

Having read the report on the BBC, these 36 mortar shells have been buried for about 10 years and are probably left over from the Iran-Iraq war...

These are from an era when we already knew that he had chemical weapons (he used them against the Kurds).

Although this is the first solid evidence that Saddam did have chemical weapons and it is definitely a "smoking gun" I will (personnally) only be convinced of the WMD story when they find something slightly more recent.

Ii isn't nice stuff but is not really massively destructive, which I would think would be a large part of the definition of WMD. Mustard Gas is, like many chemeical weapons, an area denial weapon.

It is also a mutagen - which is really nasty, even in small quantities. :scared:

I concur very much with Pulaski; to wit, mustard gas or any blistering agent is VERY NASTY with long term effects. It is a chemical weapon without a doubt. On information and belief, it is a banned weapon. One wonders what would have happened if Sadaam used the shells filled with the blistering agent on our troops.

Imho, the issue about WMDs is screwed up. Sadaam had the means and intent to quickly start-up production. He had the people/scientists with the training and know-how. Seed stocks are VERY EASY to hide, and are difficult to find absent intelligence that points a finger to their exact location. Preserved cultures of B. anthracis suitable for weaponization are VERY EASY to hide. They are so small you can't see the individual microbes with the naked eye. It would be very easy to hide them using an incorrect label. That's how easy they are to hide.

Thanks for the welcome BrigieDarling. I can see this is a brilliant site. I have missed chatting to expats from the UK. Too much truth be told. I sure miss home (UK) sometimes. Needs/job must I guess.

It is, indeed, a brilliant site!

I miss home a lot too, it's been 16 years since I went home. Not worrying though... I'm sure England isn't going anywhere.

A good morning to all free and free-thinking people,

OK, I just can't resist my need for a fix of Devil's Advocacy on a Monday morning.

Here's an inflammatory statement ( I take no side in this, I can appreciate both side of the argument ) :

What gives any country who has, and has developed for the rest of the world to buy/build, all forms of WOMD in stock the right to tell another country ( that's sitting on massive oil reserves ) that it can't have any WOMD ? Is the first country any less likely to use them ? If yes, why do they have them, it certainly hasn't deterred the others from trying to procure them ( according to Bush and co. at least ).

Discuss.
