Not to mention they can't even come to visit even just a short period of time. :( |

Let President Bush Know You Oppose This Reward For Illegal Behavior Now that the election is over, the Bush administration is making a new push for an amnesty. Secretary of State Colin Powell, in Mexico to meet with President Vicente Fox, said the U.S. Congress is now more likely to allow millions of illegal aliens in the United States to obtain legal status. "Now that the campaign is behind us and ... we have done a lot with respect to securing our borders," Powell said, "... I sense that there could be a more favorable environment." We have done a lot to secure our borders? The number of illegal crossers keeps growing. Over one million people were apprehended in 2003. Illegal aliens from Mexico accounted for 92 percent, and the remaining eight percent were foreign nationals from 192 countries. BACKGROUND In January, the administration floated a proposal for an unlimited number of three-year work visas for immigrants, including illegal aliens already in the United States. These "guest workers" would then be allowed to apply for permanent legal status while remaining in the United States. A lukewarm response from Congress and a hostile reaction from the American public forced the president to shelve his proposal until after the election. Now it's back. ACTION NEEDED The White House needs to hear right at the outset that the public will not tolerate an amnesty for illegal aliens. You can send an e-mail or fax to President Bush or Dick Cheney from CAPS' website, www.capsweb.org, by clicking on "Take Action." You may also call the White House at 202-456-1111. It is staffed from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PDT. http://www.congress.org/congressorg/...alert/?alertid |

Re: "Bush revives bid to legalize illegal aliens"
are you people still going on and on about this, posting your rightwing crappy links.
Who do you think is going to be of a working age to support all of you lot when your old? Why do you think Social security is being linked to the stock exchange. The baby boom generation of the 60's is soon to retire, The USA needs people of a working age to support this huge amount of retiring age people. This is a big problem not just in the US but also in Europe etc. I bet you lot would be the first to complain if any of your benefits were cut. |
