British passport renewal within USA/Birth certificate question
I am living in the USA and I recently applied online to renew my British passport as I want to come back and see my folks.I am legal etc no problems there etc
My problem is that I got a email from the passport people saying that: Code:
Thank you for your recent application for a passport. So that we can process your application, please send us: your full birth or adoption certificate showing your parents' details. I have photocopies of my birth certificate but apparently they don't accept those. They have sent me a link to surprise surprise yet again pay more money to get what I would imagine would be a photocopy of my certificate, but isn't that going to be what I already have? I am confused how to proceed here, time is somewhat of the essence with them needing this done by early next month or they will assume I want to withdraw my application and they will keep the money. Has anyone gone through this website, and know's how long the process takes? https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-...ge-certificate Thanks in advance. |
Re: British passport renewal within USA/Birth certificate question
Took me about 2 weeks to a UK address. I guess add a little for international courier. :)

It's the GRO, it's a tenner, suck it up. It's an official copy of your birth cert.

Re: British passport renewal within USA/Birth certificate question
That is the correct place to order "certified copies" of your full birth certificate. Important to note that "certified copies" are not just photocopies, you will have to mail it to them once it arrives. Order a few, they are useful to have to hand and don't really cost much.
