British music is definitely great (although I'm not sure that I'd use james Blunt as an example of its greatness) but I don't know if I'd call it "the best".

I dug up an old list I made, here's what I though were the best albums of 05:

1. MIA- Arular- British (also sort of Sri Lankan)
2. The Mars Volta- Frances the Mute- American
3. Wolf Parade- Apologies to the Queen Mary- Canadian
4. Minotaur Shock- Maritime- British
5. Gorillaz- Demon Days- British
6. Maximo Park- A Certain Trigger- British
7. Saint Etienne- Tales from Turnpike House- British
8. LCD Soundsystem- S/T- American
9. White Stripes- Get Behind Me Satan- American
10. DangerDoom- Mouse and Mask- American
11. Bloc Party- Silent Alarm- British
12. Doves- Some Cities- British
13. Sufjan Stevens- Illinois- American
14. Spoon- Gimme Fiction- American
15. Quasimoto- The Further Adventures of Lord Quas- American
16. Erasure- Nightbird- British
17. The Go! Team- Thunder, Lightning, Strike!- British
18. Ladytron- Witching Hour- British
19. Low- The Great Destroyer- American
20. M83- Before the Dawn Takes Us- French
21. Meshuggah- Catch Thirty Three- Swedish
22. My Morning Jacket- Z- American
23. Opeth- Ghost Reveries- Swedish
24. Sigur Ros- Takk- Icelandic
25. The Kills- No Wow- American
British: 10
American: 10
Other: 5

Not definitive of course, but there's a lot of great music from elsewhere as well.

Recently bought the Queen "Live From Wembly" DVD at Walmart for less than $10. It was Freddie's last Televised Concert before he died, and, it is excellent. Not what would I consider a big of them, but, Freddie was on top form.....even though he knew at that time, his days were numbered.

Also have the "Concert For New York" DVD too. Pretty much everyone sucks on it, except for the 4-song set from The WHO! They really had the whole arena rocking with the likes of "Who Are You, Behind Blue Eyes, Baba O'Reilly & Won't Get Fooled Again"

They're playing a cracking song on radio 1 at the minute by some mob called the kooks or something. I think they played SXSW - sound very promising.
Song makes me smile quite a lot - very british

ohhhh, suggs and paul weller - definitely a nice pair to run into. Paul Weller's performance at the Brits this year was supposed to be amazing. I think they're showing them on BBC America in the middle of April.
