Therefore as Australia is approximately 31 times larger than Britain, it's entirely logical to expect them to have won 31 times as many medals as GB. As we've won 6 gold medals, if the Aussies are to perform to the expected level they should have won about 186 gold medals.
Their haul of 13 golds is pretty woeful all things considered.
Yet again the Manc medal table proves that the UK is fantastic.

I was clearing out the garage yesterday, half listening/watching the 26 mile marathon....anyways, I was telling the missus, hey we have a chance of a gold medal, what with paula running and everything, next thing I knew she goes and pulls out and is sitting down sobbing on the road side, bless her cotton socks, but does she realise how much stick I'm getting from my wife and step-son, I can't stand it anymore....it doing my head in!
Our performance in the 100m and 400m is just beyond belief

Re: British Gold Medal Thread
A friend of mine wrote this in an email; sorry for the grammer he was in a rush:
"One person on the radio mentioned why is it that we only do well in upper class sports of rowing, horse jumping and yatching. Could be because only they upper classes can afford to do those sports. Anyway everybody else is in the pub drinking, smoking and eating crisps (should be an olympic sport...a definate gold for us)"
Makes sense to me, or perhaps it's just another excuse.

Suppose our Olympic motto could be... "When the going gets tough the toffs get going"...
If you want proof that show jumping's for toffs have a look at this photo. It's like the Monty Python Upper Class Twit of the Year comp...
