British doc looking to move to the States
hi all,
Have just finished my F2 year in the UK and looking at the possibility of moving to the US. I have not done any specialist training here so pretty much very junior.
There appears to be a doctor shortage in the US and a predicted one in the future when you read articles like this

and I want to work in primary care. also I checked nrmp data and last year over 5000 VISA requiring doctors were appointed to residencies in the US. Only about 20 docs per year appear to go from the UK.
Grateful for any further advice and whether British docs generally well perceived there or any tips etc Know about the exams and the process.
Many thanks
David

Start from scratch as a student, would be the gist of things... there are a few threads on the subject with more details though, you'll just have to search them out, plenty of into posted buy Ozzidoc.

I'm one month into an Internal Medicine residency (graduated in 2010, did F1/2 then worked as a Clinical Teaching Fellow for a year), so the move is possible. What exactly do you want to know?
