Slightly off topic

Once had to go the B.A's catering centre at Heathrow to their Queens catering West facility. To arrange the removal of large catering machines to another of their catering facilities.

On the day of the actual move the machines were still being used and at the end of their production run were to be transported.

A huge "scone" making machine was the first thing to be moved and while watching it start to be disassembled I heard a member of the catering staff ask if the "Crumb tay" had been emptied.

At this 2 women opened a large 8 ft x 4 ft stainless steel tray positioned very close to the floor in the machine.

Keep in mind that this machine had finished it's most recent run 30 minutes earlier.

The "crumb tray" was ALIVE and covered with maggots!!!

BTW B.A prepare meals for other major airlines flying out of Heathrow, so next time you fly out of there......enjoy!!!!

That's only horrible if BA don't serve Ketchup. Maggots are pretty good when eat'n with ketchup (or Daddies sauce)...

Anyway, they'll be sc'gone tomorrow ;)

Incidentally, what sort of evidence did they require - certified copy of death certificate, or just a photocopy?

Also, I vaguely remember hearing somewhere that United no longer offer them - DAK? Is there a list/website somewhere which gives info on airlines that do offer them?

United does, Delta doesn't.

BA dont do their meals anymore, Gate Gourmet do it, probably because of the above! Gate Gourmet have had loads of trade union issues recently, affecting BA's flight as you probably heard.

I always prefer flying Virgin over BA and BMI for European flights.
