Re: Brit Ships in Chicago
There is a shop in Naperville, called The Irish Way, sells food stuff.
also a few Irish shops at Long Grove, also they have them at some malls. they usually sell the usual, chocolate, bisto, custard etc., Blarneys, sells pies, sausage rolls, choc etc., There are a few Indian grocery stores around the Chicago area/NW suburbs also try world market. |

Re: Brit Shops in Chicago
sorted the thread title..
http://www.britsintheus.com/foods.htm have a look at that, the sites a bit shite, but it does have a pretty good listing of Brit stores around the country...it's a start at least :) |
Re: Brit Shops in Chicago
Hi Andy, I'm right near you. I'm in SE Aurora (my hubby's band is playing at O'Malley's on Hill Avenue tonight, and I'm off there in just a few - get yer arse over there! :D ) and there are a few places I know of, not many though.
Michael's Fresh Market on the NE corner of Ogden and Route 59 (just south of Wal-Mart) used to have a whole aisle of Indian foodstuffs - I think Indians might own it ;) - but now it's been whittled down a bit. Still an excellent shop all round. Further up 59 and on the Aurora side, Meijer has an "International Foods" aisle. Aisle 9, I think... they have a few things in there. Opposite the British section you can get curry sauces etc. in the Asian section. And you can't have been here long, otherwise you'd have found the Cost Plus World Market on New York Street. It's just west of Route 59, and directly north of Fox Valley Mall (that's what I call it, though its name was changed a couple of years ago to "Westfield Shoppingtown" but no-one calls it that). Actually it's on the ring-road around the mall, sandwiched between that and New York Street. Go west on New York Street (it's called Aurora Avenue on the east side of 59) and turn left at the first traffic light. It's there on your left. Also, not necessarily Brit food, but Trader Joe's on Gartner in Naperville (where it meets Washington - SW corner) has some stuff that I've not found anywhere else, like tzatziki. Yum! Now I'm hungry! |
