Brit families In Jacksonville
Hi
we are looking at relocating to Jacksonville and wondered if any families with young children (11&13) could give me some advice on locations with good schools and also just give me an idea of what it’s like lifestyle wise! I’m worried about not working and not feeling part of a community and generally feeling temporary all the time. any words of advice? |

Hello and welcome to BE!
What visa will you and your family be relocating to the US on? |
Re: Brit families In Jacksonville
If the move actually is temporary then you likely will feel temporary all the time. If you are moving for a few years then expecting to return to the UK, you run the risk of seriously missing up your children's education as the US and British education systems are completely different and while moving from the UK into the US education system is doable, returning to the UK without the years running up to GCSE's or trying to do A levels without having done GCSEs is likely to be much tougher.

great point, I hadn’t thought about the move back and picking up on GSCEs. Thanks for mentioning that. Not sure if that will hold us back but still a valid point . And yes it would be temporary and I’m sure I’d never shake off the temporary feeling. |

Which visa will the children be on, are they his children?

Re: Brit families In Jacksonville
I'd worry about being on a B2 ..... hasn't it got to be renewed every 12 months or so ?

Re: Brit families In Jacksonville
i 94 is usually good for 12 months, but the Visa longer and sounds like a short term deal anyway.

the job offer isn’t short term but I suspect our stay. Might be, is that going to be full of difficulties?
Sounds like it may not be an imminent move so plenty of time. |
