I'm not sure if this has been asked yet...sorry if it has...
Has anyone tried bringing their belongings from Canada since the inspections were increased at the border?
We had our AP and were waiting on a vehicle to take because we can't afford the moving costs and then the terrorist attacks happened. We're afraid to try now, that they might want to confinscate either of our computers (I have one, he has one) or inspect everything we have. We have nothing to hide, just a lot of stuff to go through.
Also, Rita, you said in a post a while ago that Jim used a consolidated shipment with a moving company to have his stuff brought down. How would we look into something like that? Use a US or Canadian moving company?
Thanks

Off the top of my head, I would think if you both were to accompany the goods in the truck back to the US and you have the A/P and a list of all the goods you are bringing, then I don't forsee that you will have problems. As a USC be sure to bring your passport with you as proof of your citizenship. Or at least, your certified birth certificate and photo identification.
As for the consolidator, Jim got his from looking in the yellow pages of the Ottawa phone book. YOu can probably find them online as well. They pick up the goods, take a list of everything being brought into the country and a copy of your immigration visa (in our case a copy of the K-1).
