It's kack.

You'll have a hard time getting around and they'll be even more pissed up, green haired plastic paddy's pissing you off than normal. It really is shit and doesn't improve the drinking.

That's exactly what I feared. Thanks for reassuring me that I should talk her out of it

Silvertones in Boston, best mussels ever

There's still good bar hopping in Harvard Square. Could start out close to central
at "The People's Republic" and walk in hitting "Plough and Stars", then just do Shays, John Harvard's, Border Cafe (crap food, but good atmosphere), Grendels, Doyles, OM Red House and Casablanca if you want a bit of class, but you must finish at Charlies Kitchen, a real dive and a great place at 2 in the morning. Avoid Whitneys.

Hmmmm.... maybe near MIT then? We've stayed at a Marriott and a Residence Inn just by the Kendall/MIT Red Line stop. Cambridge Brewing Company is just round the corner - nice food and atmosphere and great beer. They often have a fire pit on the go outside which is nice to huddle by on a cold evening.

Boozy brunches - the only places I've been to are on Newbury Street. There's a selection of places, some require reservations. Sonsie and Stephanie's are probably among the best, but there are others along that street too. I guess there might be somewhere round Harvard way but I've not been out there for brunch.

Newbury Street is where the posh shops are right?
(Because I know Sis is going to want to hit those )

thanks for all these names.
I've been Yelping like crazy. :D

That bar you recommended Deep Ellum....they do a giant pretzel with beer cheese!! That sounds so fantastically bad I just know I'll love it. *drool*
I can see us having a good ole drink in there.

Boston's fab. We've done more weekends there than I could shake a reasonably big stick at. Every February/March we've done at least 3 or 4 weekends there based around watching the Six Nations in the pub (and then having a right old beery weekend in general) but this is the first time we'll miss out on that with the sproutlet due any minute...

There's a Brit Meetup group just started, that's trying to arrange a meet up for the 6 nations as a first meeting...location is still up in the air though.

Our Six Nations favourite used to be McGanns (near North Station) but we turned up a couple of times to find them closed (even though we'd phoned the day before to check they were open). That led to frantic taxi rides to Lir on Boylston (usually missing the anthems in the process), which became our venue of choice after that due to reliability.

Also done Phoenix Landing in Cambridge - more of a footy pub though and I don't like their set-up as much. Also went to the Green Briar in Brighton a couple of times when the Irish chippy used to be just down the street. Never bothered going there again after that shut. :(
