BNO Application Woes

Hi everyone!

I'm currently applying for a renewal on my BNO passport. The problem is that my last passport was issued when I was just a baby. On top of that I was born in Hong Kong. I finally heard back after sending my application in and I'm confused.

I had to send my original birth certificate and original BNO passport. Now their asking me to prove I'm not Chinese? Both my parents are Philapino and it states on my Birth Certificate that I'm not of Chinese decent.

Can anyone give me some insight into what documents they might be looking for to prove I'm not Chinese? The email they sent literally just says prove your not Chinese. >_<

Thanks in advance for any help you an give me on this! :)

You don't need to prove you're non-Chinese to get a British BNO passport. You normally would have to if you were applying for registration as a British citizen based on the special provisions for Hong Kong, but that is different.

Do you have a Hong Kong Permanent ID Card? As far as I understand, that can indicate Chinese or non-Chinese ethnicity.

And out of interest - have you any other citizenship/passport (U.S. citizenship, Philippines, etc.)?

Weird. Did you submit your HK ID card with your application?
