Hello again

I've been doing my last minute checking of info for my interview on monday in London. I'm British and was adopted, and I therefore have two birth certificates, one with my name being the original one I was given - Aaron O'Brien (long form) and the other being my adopted name - Nicholas Holland (short form). I also have an adoption certificate stating that I was adopted as Nicholas Holland (ie - my adoptive parents changed my name to Nicholas Holland).

Have I anything to worry about since my extra birth certificate has my adopted name on it and is the short form, or am I just getting into a huge panic because it's thursday now and monday's VERY soon? (God, I wish I was less nervous about this bloody interview!)

Actually you are both Nick and Aaron ;-)

You are required to have a long form birth certificate but logically it seems to me that because of the adoption, you have a long form birth certificate showing your biological parents' names, addresses, etc. and your short form adoption birth certificate showing your parenting mother's and father's names and you should probably have the formal adoption papers if at all possible. Although the formal adoption papers will just substantiate the short form adoption birth certificate.

Go to the interview with what you have in your possession. The crux of the matter is that the birth certificate is to prove not who you are but where you are a citizen of. Your original birth certificate will show that.
