Talking Biometrics appointment already!

Well it's only been just over a week since my I-140 was approved, and today we received our biometrics appointments!

A question for y'all here: I know it's extremely variable, but can anyone give me a vague idea of how long it can take from biometrics to having your AOS approved and receiving your GC?

can be weeks, months or years...

But nice one on getting the appointment...though what'll take a while is the background check done on the prints, not so much the check, just passing on the info afterwards....unless your called John Smith, or Muhammed etc

We are on an H1b visa got our labor certification approved in 15 days! We were told by hubby's work lawyers (yesterday) that we will get our GC 10 months (roughly) after our medical for permanent residency has been approved. Don't know if it is different times re state. Know it is re what visa you are on. And don't know if your situation is different from ours. As all these abbreviations etc are so confusing to me. So I only understand what the lawyers say re us So sorry if this is not at all helpful to you but I'm pleased re my news- selfish I know

Ours was a matter of weeks after the fingerprints had been taken.

Congratulations... I think.

I'm on an H1-B visa, and because of Priority Date Retrogression I had to submit a National Interest Waiver in order to bypass Labor Certification and proceed with my Adjustment of Status.

What confuses me about what you've said is that an H1-B visa holder can submit their Labor Certification and have it approved, but I was under the impression that if their Priority Date (the date they filed their Labor Certification) was after April 2001 then they would be unable to submit an I-485 Adjustment of Status application.

Has your husband's lawyer mentioned anything about Priority Date Retrogression? If it's not a problem anymore then I've been giving out a lot of bad advice recently!

Oooh! That's the kind of answer I wanted!

Like everyone asking questions on BE, I will now take that answer, the one I wanted, and accept no others.

It's now official that our GCs will arrive a couple of weeks after our biometrics!

Let me put it this way, we moved into this house at the end of August. At some point between then and early November (when our GC's arrived) our fingerprints were taken.

My husbands work filed it, 5 April this year. they deal with tons of green card applications so hopefully do all that stuff automatically for us. The didn't mention anything like priority date retrogression. They either file and do that stuff for us or it doesn't matter (don't know which) They just phone and say the bare minimum!! So sorry can't help you with that one.
Thanks for the congrats. I know everything now is quicker cause of the PERM.

I really don't know anything about this priority date retrogression business. My husband was an H1b (prof of extraordinary ability or some such ), so did not need LC. We did our biometrics within a couple of weeks of submitted all the I-485 bumpf and were approved 7 months after that (end of last year). HOWEVER, one of our sons is still stuck in 'waiting for security clearance hell', and no one can tell us what the F**k is going on...

if he's got a common name, or a name that has many hits, it'll take a while, and if it's been more than a year since fingerprints, he'll have to have the prints re-taken and verified....which is an arse.

Who knows... We were told 15 months for having his FP retaken. He's gonna love that - pi$$ed off enough as it is... We just had to fork out another $180 for EAD renewal. They really are taking the pi$$!!!

Hubby's GC didn't arrive in the mail with ours. Ours came regular mail in an envelope with INS written all over it, don't know why they didn't write across the front in big letters GREEN CARD INSIDE!!! Needless to say his was 'missing', a replacement was received 6/8 weeks later.
