Some of the information in the WIKI is definitely in need of updating. The mortgage advice is lacking some stuff. I will update it when I've got a few minutes.

Word of warning, beware of the amazon credit idea.

Rejected when first arriving, ok sure, no credit history.
Reapplied having now a score 750 ish a year later and still declined.

That’s not ideal and the applications hurt your score.
So will avoid and find alternatives. It is baked by Chase, putting me off them more generally. Probably better alternatives.

You could always call the credit card company and ask them to re-evaluate especially in light of your credit score. I did this once and was accepted afterwards. The automatic system doesn't always have access to all the information.

Some companies are more strict than others on who they give cards to. Maybe sign up for the credit tracking sites such as quizzle, credit.com, mint, credit karma and quite often they will suggest cards. I am not sure how likely it is that you would be accepted. The other thing is to wait for pre-approved offers to turn up in the mail.

More important than the credit score is the credit history and the length of time you have a credit history. 12 months isn't much history.

Chase might have been more accommodating if you had another type of account with them. As might any other card issuer, such as your own bank.
