Best online jobsite for finding recruiters - Seattle area

Hi folks.

I’ve always done very well when changing jobs in the UK and my last three job moves have all come from recruiters contacting me after finding my profile on Jobsite.co.uk. Generally, once I have reactivated the account I log in every day to keep it fresh and typically receive 5-15 calls per day (I work in a specialised position). I’ve found it much more efficient than searching myself.

I also have profiles on Monster, Reed and justengineers.net but jobsite is the one that yields consistent results – I suspect it is free/inexpensive for recruiters to review candidate profiles accounting for the large number of calls I get.

Is there an equivalent site that could help me reel-in recruitment consultants in Washington state (anywhere really, but ideally Greater Seattle)? Obviously a quick Google search will bring up any number of job boards but I am looking for first-hand experiences of a popular site that brings plenty of calls.

Appreciate any info. Many thanks.

I'm not sure that there is one 'best' site for this. Networking (connecting with people, rather than in the IT sense) seems to generate far better results.

In my experience here in the US, it's been LinkedIn that has yielded the most interest from recruiters / headhunters. I do not have any active 'profiles' on any of the US based recruitment sites. You can take a look at Dice.com or Monster.com, depending on your specialism, you may be able to find a board/forum/site better suited to your specific area of expertise.

I would say LinkedIn too. You can also try CareerBuilder.com and Dice.com

Another vote for LinkedIn if your skills are generally in demand. Even though my profile doesn't have the looking for opportunities flag set, I'm still getting an average of a solicitation every one or two days.

ETA: and even though I'm in the NYC area I've had occasional solicitations from recruiters in the Seattle area, sometimes offering remote working, sometimes offering relocation, so looks like there's definitely demand in that area.

Thank you folks - that's really helpful. Clearly things work a little differently, I will start to build a LinkedIn profile.

I'll use Linked in as the main site and will have dice and careerbuilder as backups.

Roy - some particularly helpful info there, thank you.

LinkedIn is pretty much the standard I'd say. Tap out your contacts, join groups in the field and location and get to networking events.

Most useful as a tool to figure out who and how to contact people in positions you might be interested in while avoiding the HR bin trap.
