Best broadband/phone deal?
Chaps/chapesses,
I should be closing on my house in just over two weeks time, and am now looking for the best broadband deal I can find. Seems it is either Comcast (have to have basic tv to get internet at reasonable rate) or BellSouth for phone+ADSL. I dont really need a phone, I use my mobile, which I am lucky enough to have the company pay for, including personal calls. Comcast is a lot dearer than BellSouth, even though I have to have a virtually useless phone with them. Seems like I have to have it though. For now, I dont need a cable/sat TV deal, especially as I am on the road a lot. Pointless paying for something I dont need, like the phone....
So, anyone got any suggestions other than these two? It seems like the local loop is not as unbundled as it is in the UK. Neither Sprint nor Verizon can provide ADSL here in Atlanta.
It seems I will have to pay approx $60 per month, which seems high for a basic broadband requirement. Again, helpful suggestions gratefully received.

Re: Best broadband/phone deal?
It'll really depend on where abouts you are, even in the city...if you can get Verizon optical jobby, that's $35 for 15mb down connection if your in one of those lucky places....which I ain't...which sucks...

You could look at Charter unless anyone knows different. It is what I use.

Always like to check stuff out at dslreports. Your local forum is here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/atlanta
You should see about the availability of bare DSL -- it's offered in some markets. Then you can use a VoIP provider when/if you need a home phone. No idea about Atlanta, though.

Re: Best broadband/phone deal?
here we got cable, modem, phone all from one place (Timewarner) and got huge reductions... we have every channel under the sun, long distance free & 5C/minute to call england, 8MB Downstream, 1MB upstream and we're happy paying $190 for that.
before we got it all from timewarner it came to $270
