I travelled to the UK last weekend by Continental...this is the discount they offered for bereavement fares.

Up to $499.99 round trip 5%
Up to $999.99 round trip 10%
$1,000.00 and up round trip 20%

Unfortunately most fares booked less than 7 days from departure tend to be on the high side.

Sorry to hear about your loss

When my mum died on Thanksgiving day (busiest time for flying) 3 years ago North West really took care of us, I was really impressed. There were 3 of us flying on 3 flights each way. They charged us around $2500 total (can't remember the exact amount) if I had booked online it was going to cost over $10,000

We had a flight booked to florida, they cancelled that and gave us a full refund (credit towards the flight to the UK) without charging us any fees. Also every flight we had, 6 in total, was full to the point of having stand by and even though I had only booked 2 days earlier they had all 3 of us sat together.
