Default Bedding help!

As the title suggests, I am in need of some advice about bedding in the US.

Firstly, what is the equivalent of a duvet here? Is it a comforter? The only ones I've seen are the quilted patterned type. I'm looking for a normal duvet which then fits inside a duvet cover. Also does anyone know if they have the tog system here? It's all so confusing!

We've just ordered a new bed which will arrive in 2 weeks time, so I really need to find something soon. Have looked online, and aside from the different terms for all the bedding, they seem to be really into flowery bedspreads here! Which just isn't my thing at all. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy?

Comforters are like duvets with the covers attached. You can get duvets and covers here but not as often as comforters. i brought all my uk duvets with me so ive never brought one here to know how they do 'togs'.
try a 'Home Goods' store or somewhere like that as they can have them in stock.

Target, Marshall, TJMaxx, Home Goods, Ikea, Kohls and most department stores all sell duvets and duvet covers. A comforter is thinner than a duvet and the cover is stitched to padding...so not easy to wash...in fact many have to be dry cleaned. No tog rating here.

I recently got a pair of duvets for bunk/twin beds in Ikea. I think they do have a warmness rating from 1-5. 5 being the warmest. They do have covers as well, but watch the sizing, as it may not be the correct size for the bed.

Depends what your budget is. If you have the money, there's some really nice bedding at restorationhardware.com including duvet covers. RH is not cheap, but the reputation and quality is excellent. Look under the "Bed" tab, towards the top left.

IKEA/bed bath beyond/overstock...Haven't noticed a tog system.

A comforter is just a machine made quilt.

Most department stores also note sell hotel range of bedding which you'll want to look out for.

Wait a minute. What kind of bed did you order?

I prefer a duvet with a cover just seems more hygenic to be able to strip it off and wash weekly rather than having the same one all the time, having said that I have a comforter on the bed right now
I buy mine in Macys JCPenny or the last one on Amazon.

No one seems to have addressed the issue of "pattern" (Flowers are a bit much).

I suggest one with Buzz Lightyear on it.

Or if that isn't your thing... maybe Power Rangers?

I don't think they do the "Tog" thing here.

Should be pretty stable if you sort of ... hang... off each side equally.
