I've thought about this (and it's going to be some time before i have to do anything about it, gotta remove conditions first) and my feeling is, that as long as i keep my British citizenship, i don't see why not. I will always be british, it is who i am and who i will always be. I have become some what americanized and i enjoy some things the states has to offer, but I will always be a "limey" as my grandfather in-law calls me

I was born and bred in the UK and have grown further, perhaps improved, here in the States. I realised that I wasn't giving up my Britishness when I became a citizen, that would be impossible. The only time there would be a problem of conscience would be if the two were approaching war against each other, whether to stay or go.
As an aside; when the company got a job in the middle east, at a time when US passports were not popular there, the company asked for a list of dual citizens who might be able to man the job.

So here's a question for y'all. My wife and I fully intend to take it, for many of the reasons others have stated. We'll always be British, but we won't turn down the chance to never interact with the USCIS again!
Anyway, my question is; my children will be 12 when my we become eligible for citizenship. Will they have to take the citizenship test at that age, or will their citizenship be automatic if and when we obtain ours?
...and before anyone tells me... yes, I'm a lazy bastard, and would rather clog up this board with my question than actually search for the answer. OK?

PS They'll probably find the test easier than you

Does it really matter if you have a UK or USA passport anyway? I was born & bred a Brit and although I now can get a US passport I will always be a Brit! I lived to long there and I doub't those feelings will change. At my recent swearing in ceremony we were told that we should embrace the new culture and that culture should embrace us, we should not loose ours. I will always want Heinz Baked Beanz!!!

NC and Ray, how about you move your little tiff to TIO, eh? It's very dull watching a grumpy moderator and a grumpy old sod slug it out in someone else's thread.
Neither of you are even being entertaining... unless the sight of a moderator picking a fight is entertainment.
