Bay Area CA driving license holder needed

Long shot request, I have a 11am behind the wheel driving test next Tuesday in Oakland we haven’t been here long and don’t know that many people the ones I do know either don’t have a CA license or aren’t free as this short notice I have also tried a few driving instructors but they weren’t any help. I am asking if there are any expats in the Bay Area with a CA licence who could spare a couple of hours to go to the DMV with me? I have held a full British license for 30 years and have no points so am a safe driver. We live in Los Altos, Hope someone can help

Regards,

Andy

Rent a car, drive yourself to the test (this is what I did).

You can drive yourself to your test on your UK license.

Thanks Nicky where did you get this from as the DMV office was adamant you can’t.

Hi Andyoxon,

I am a British Expat living in Oakland and currently waiting on my Employment Based Greencard.

Looks like you've found someone for your driving test, but I'm happy to be of help if other similar situations come up for you..

Oh and good luck with the driving test.

Saj

Both me and my husband drove ourselves to our test, no problems at all.

Why are you going all the way to Oakland to do your test when you're in Los Altos? Are appointments that full locally?

Saj, thanks for the offer really appreciate it.

Nicky, yes 6 to 8 week waiting times most places the Oakland one was a cancellation so I took that. I assume you were outside the 10 days that California allow you to get a license, did you take your recently?

Yes, we were outside the 10 days, virtually impossible to do it within that window. It was 10 years ago now, but the instructions have stayed the same.

My daughter needs to book her test, I'll tell her to do it now. She might be ready in 2 months.
