Barclays UK - Accessing from overseas (Pin Sentry, App, Region etc)
Hi Everybody. I hope all is well and you are being responsible locking yourself down (like I am in Florida, with no mandatory lockdown order!)
Quick question for everybody. I still have a banking relationship with Barclays back home as I have a few debts still to pay off. I send money via Transferwise on a monthly basis to cover payments etc which has been working well, however this weekend I could no longer access my Barclay's account online. I ended up getting locked out and it asked me to use my Pin Sentry. But I no longer have the physical pin sentry device, and my iPhone won't download the Barclays app as it's only available in the UK region! As I write this, I am charging an old iphone so I can create a second Apple ID, so that I can hopefully assign that apple ID to the UK and download the Barclays app.
My question to everybody else (especially those who still bank with Barclays back home) is what are you all doing here? Any tips and tricks etc?

I use my physical pin sentry. I only got it last year though, until then I was logging in using my code and secret word.

When did you last log in? I used to use my code and secret word but when I logged in this morning it asked me for my card details, which I put in because I still have it, and that didn't work! Hence I now need to use a pin sentry to reset my credentials. I'm not even going to bother trying to call the bank right now with everything else they're probably dealing with...

You can create a secondary Apple ID to use on your iPhone. I had to create a US identity so I could get US apps, whilst I still lived in the UK. At least the US ID didn't need a credit card to sign up with. Periodically, I switch to my UK ID to update UK apps which sometimes don't automatically update.

If you have a UK credit card linked to a UK address you can switch between the UK and US stores. Switch to the UK store and download the Barclays app. I have not done this specifically with the Barclays app but have done it with others such as the Amex app.

Send them an email and ask for a new PIN sentry device. They sent one out to me not long after I moved out here.

firstly, give them your up to date US address and pin sentry, new cards etc arrive in the post as normal
setup a U.K. and US Apple ID, use the U.K. for U.K. stuff
once working, use phone to act as mobile pin sentry to log in to web etc. I almost never use the actual pin sentry but I keep any received in cupboard just in case.
i try to make sure mobile banking is working on at least two mobile devices, or phone and iPads at same time, so risk of not being able to access is low.
i recently got a new phone and setup again was no hassle, indeed physical pin sentry still wasn’t needed. Can’t recall the last time actually needed it...
