Banning Trans fats?

Banning Trans fats?
Well just caught the tail end of the local news that Brookline were going to vote on whether or not to ban transfats from public eateries in the town, and if it goes through, it'll be the third city along with NYC and Pittsburgh I think was the other cities.
So what do you think of that? A good or bad thing? Realistic? Something that should be spread to other cities or not?

To be honest the whole trans/sat fat does my head in and I just try to eat mainly fresh foods but guessing it can only be a good thing really.

Eating fresh foods doesn't really do a whole lot in terms of regulating your intake of saturated/trans fat. I think banning trans is pretty dumb because it's naturally in things like meat and dairy products. Maybe banning partially hydrogenated vegetable oil is a better move because something stupid like 95% of trans fat we eat is from those.

Actually what they (in the US) really do need to ban from foods is High Fructose Corn Syrup.

mind you, ive said it before and i will say it again, if people are determined they will eat all kinds of shite, banning this type of fat in food wont help that much, balanced diet, without much junk and a decent amount of exercise is the only way really
less in, more out.
something i have a problem with

In the original book them members of Fight Club not only make soap out of liposuction fat, but then go out of their way to make sure that they market it back to the same women it came from!

If you haven't seen the movie, you'll have missed the scene where they're stealing plastic bags of liposuction fat from the hospital biohazard disposal, and a bag rips and pours all over Edward Norton's head.
