Baggage on United Airlines (UK to USA)

Baggage on United Airlines (UK to USA)
Does anyone know how much baggage is allowed for United Airlines ?. I'm flying from Heathrow to North Carolina on Monday. The website seems to indicate 2x 23kg + hand luggage but that seems too generous. Anybody know if that's right ?.

depends on ticket class. can also depend on level in frequent flyer club also I think..for cattle class it is 1checked bag

... i went through in Aug and they weighed my stuff and scraped by with 1kg to spare.
