Depends if you want a new home. In Phoenix, around 85 percent of new homes are HOA. Gilbert (part of Phoenix metro) only issues building permits to developers if there is a HOA planned.

I have reverted to the Union Flag flying above the St George Cross. After a some flustered gentlemen appeared on my doorstep I pointed out to them that there is no where mentioned anything about flying other nations flags without old glory in their covenants so to kindly shove their objections where the sun dont shine (ie New York).
So the upshot is I have my home nations flags flying, they are pissed but cant do anything about it.
Ding ding..end of round 1. Points win for me.
