I thought someone said there is going to be a shortage of Branston.

Seriously, do any of you Texas expats need anything brining over next week?
Like Asda Special Reserve Xmas pud. Blindingly awesome stuff. Almost 30% alcohol in it.

You'd be suprised how much we get here, although not sure about Xmas pud, but its really not the same without the brandy butter, dotty old relatives, slightly inebriated kids knocking back "snowballs" while they see how many toys it is possible to break in one day, etc . . .

Question Re: Austin, Texas, Booze Up

As of the first week in December, I will be a resident of Austin.

Where do you buy the british stuff like Branston? Is it just from regular supermarkets or are there special food stores.

Cheers
Jim

The Phoenica Bakery, of which there are at least two locations, has the best selection of british goods, in my opinion. MGM Indian Foods does well, too. Fiesta (hispanic Tesco's) had an aisle of british foodstuffs last time I was there. Only Phoenicia has bangers, naan, black pudding, cornish pasties, etc, in the frozen section. Let me know if you need directions to these places.

Hope you can join us for a pint once you get here! You chose the right time of year to arrive.

Where do you all live in Austin?

We are going to be in Cedar Park to begin with.

Hi Scorchio

We are arriving on the 5th December. Why do you say if it all goes to plan? Is there a chance it may not happen? Where abouts are you now then?

We're currently renting an apartment in south Austin, but we've been having a house built in Cedar Park. It's supposed to be complete in December, but I'm not ruling out any last minute problems with the house or the mortgage application. There's been a few hitches with the preferred mortgage broker not being familiar with international credit checks, and me losing my job , but fingers crossed everything is back on track now!
