I did say 'one of the things' there's a whole list of others I'm sure you don't want to hear about.
Living in San Francisco I'm sure is a lot different to Houston. I friend is going to college in Chicago and experienced a big culture shock.

I used to think that until I saw people here explaining things and I saw it differently, (suppose I never bothered thinking about it very much).

And I noticed other people here changing their minds as well. So maybe occasionally it will be brought up and explained to new posters

Thank goodness, I feel so much of a sore thumb around here already.

San Fran is one of the few other places I'd want to live in the US, there are plenty I'd know I wouldn't like and be miserable in.

But it is sooo expensive there! But I read here you lived down the coast a bit in a nice area? so lucky you

I enjoyed the Seattle area (Renton) when I lived in that area. Apart from the weather I liked the PNW.

you can list all your dislikes about the uk, doesn't worry me one bit as i know where i prefer to live

i've only been to SF a few times with work and so cannot comment however i've spent some time in San Diego and La Jolla and much prefer it to here with the only exception being that it's much further to get back to the uk.

Well the weather is the same as the UK so I'm used to it (maybe it helps with the transition here )

So agree with you, the time difference, everything highlights being further away from the UK which I don't like.

Its psychological with me, (its easier getting to the UK than living in Indianapolis) really think of timing for phoning etc.

I don't wish to belabor the point and others have explained their situation, husband in the military. but why live here if you don't like it.
Someone said it wasn't feasible because of Husbands job, it wasn't feasible for me to leave Seattle, until I got laid off then it became very feasible.

You have to go and live there, like many of your countrymen they are happy to stay. If you ever find Bill Bryson's book on Notes From A Small Island...he is American, you might come to understand what we miss.
