And only the third time England have won at MCG after putting the felons in.

Plus only the fourth(?) time we've retained the Ashes in Oz after regaining them in England.

Sweet!

Ponting out of the 5th test, now Australia have a chance - they got rid of the dead weight. Lol.

Lots and lots of speculation about his future on TMS yesterday. The consensus is that he could drop down one place, renounce the captaincy and remain great.

Or he could just get shunted aside for trying to cling to too much fading glory.

Sic transit &c.

sue: get over it, it's a joke???

as for manc's comment, i do agree... we are definitely sore losers! its a national disgrace to be destroyed like we were on home soil.

oh well... on to sydney for hopefully a drawn series albeit you keep the ashes

the biggest issue is if he stands down (ponting), who'll take over? clarke is a hack who himself is struggling with lack of form. the other issue is that the troops dont respect him, in my opinion he severely alienated his team mates when he was shagging that mole bingle... buying her stupid aston martins and ridiculously expensive diamond rings - he was acting like a show pony premier league soccer star not a cricketer

he's a clown.

Methinks Sue doesn't understand the animosity we have for you scum, and vice versa...

Lots of people ask who England's natural enemies are: France or Germany? Talk about missing the point!

If you manage to win at SCG, all credit to you. My $20 says the odds are very low...

The aussies are using the excuse that they have a really bad team.

I don't remember anyone in 1993 in Australia saying "well yes we have the Ashes, but Graham Gooch's team were bloody awful"

they were just like, fuck it, yeah we hammered them on their own patch

I agree with previous poster.

Ponting contemplating moving down to no. 4. I do think though, he will continue to captain Australia for a bit. The main reason is, Michael C is not much be a better captain anyway. . . .

How about Les Patterson? He couldn't be worse, and at least the Barmy Army would have a better reason to laugh?
