NO DMV center is interested in it, they don't need it,

Well if you'd read the posts you'd see that your statement isn't true for DMVs in some states.

I wouldn't care what the state law says, don't even tell them that you have a UK license. IMO, the no US state has no right to remove your foreign country's license. It is the foreign government's right to remove your driving privilege, not a US state.

It's not really relevant what we think should be the case; it's only relevant what the prevailing law is.

As was discussed earlier in the thread the DVLA confiscates licenses from foreign license holders too.

I suppose that if you really want to avoid giving your license in then you can apply for a learners permit, but then surely you need to prove you've had a certain length of time behind the wheel before you are allowed to take the skills test.

Unless you are going to lie to the DMV about (not) having a UK license I don't see how you can get away with it in states where taking your foreign license off you is mandatory.

Saying a US state has no right to do something can't possibly be correct when it's the law that they MUST do that exact thing.

I know this is rich coming from me given comments I've made in other threads, but as I've come to a better understanding of how these things work in various states I've changed my tune somewhat.

Yeah - only a couple of weeks ago... Ok - maybe 3 weeks ago.

When I was looking at driving info - that page was much more useless and I think it hadn't changes since 2002 or something...
