Arena Football
Anyone else ever been to one of these games?
The missus had to host some clients in the corporate suite and I tagged along to have a look.....what a bizarre sport.
Rules seem to be the same as your standard american football, but on a diddy little indoor pitch. It's the US "five aside" equivalent. The players are the same big guys, but look like giants on the small pitch!
I found it incredibly hard to follow - being in an enclosed converted ice hockey arena, the distractions are incredible - the plays last seconds, followed by a huge fanfare of music, flashing lights, fireworks and all the jazz you get at a normal american football game but in a tight space. How on earth the players manage to take it seriously is beyond me!
Although this is obviously not rigged and is a proper "sport" in its own right, the nearest thing I could equate it to is a "WWF Smackdown".
Crazy stuff....don't think I'll be returning.....

Re: Arena Football
It's not a bad product, but to me it's just a poor man's football. We've had one of the better teams in the AFL the last few years, but I have no desire to see a game. Ticket prices are cheap though.
