There are both possible advantages and disadvantages to doing it that way. She would likely only get a two year scholarship and then would need to apply for another two year scholarship at another college so there could be a chance of not getting a scholarship for the second two years. However, once she is in the US, she might be scouted by other colleges that she may prefer to attend.
Yes there is that disadvantage of the year or two years at the college then transfering to the uni as it will onlt be for another two yrs, and will it be enough to finish her degree!! We think thiw would only be a option if the paperwork and scholarship for Jacksonville uni were signed and guaranteed for the following yr.
She has talks tomorrow with Lamar uni in Beaumont Texas, Uni of Houston Texas and Mc Neese state uni Louisianna and Troy Uni Alabama. Then see what they offer

You do know that students can only participate in a college sport for a maximum of 4 years and that is why colleges offer a maximum of 4 year sport scholarships.

Generally community colleges mostly offer prerequisites and most of the subjects needed for the major are offered during the next two years at a 4 year college. So generally there is not a big difference in the curriculum either way.

Hi yes we know about the max 4 yrs for college sport, we have heard that some universitys div 1 can offer a 5 th yr of scholarship you compete for 4yrs and the 5th year is degree completion. Its nice to know that there is not a big difference in the curriculum, that was one of the concerns spending one or two yrs at a college then transfering to a uni for the other two was if it would make a difference to her major and time to do it., and obviously the hassle of transfering.

Actually its down to 4 uni
1. Virginia commonwealth uni Richmond Virginia div 1.
2. Lamar University Beaumont Texas div 1
3 Nova Southeastern university Fort Lauderdale Div 2
4. Mc Neese State University Lake charles Louisiana. Div 1
Had a long chat with the coach from Lamar this morning, seems like a nice place and been emailing some of the team too, they all seem happy there, the campus looks nice and the accomodation is on site which is great (security wise) and its a medium university about 14,020 students so not to big and they include health insurance tried to see is they would combine air fair so I could see them in person but doesn't look likely.

I'm working on my PhD at NSU. What would you like to know? It's a lovely campus in a relatively nice area of town. Lots of shops and restaurants. Ft. Lauderdale consolidated its various higher education facilities into an "education corridor", so around NSU there are 4 more universities - all within walking distance of each other. The Miami Dolphins have their training facility at NSU... if she fancies American football. And perhaps best of all, NSU is only about 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and some very nice beaches!
