Default Application in process

Hello,

I filed an I-130/I-485 to adjust from my student visa back in 11/2001. I moved, my file got misplaced, and I had to ask the INS where my file was. One immigration officer got me totally scared about a month ago because when she looked at the information of my file, it said "application in process". She told me how this would slow the transfer of my file to the right office and so on.

Does anybody know if "application in process" is any different than "application pending"?

I have stopped worrying a long time ago, but I am still interested in knowing the answer...

Thanks,
Caroline
