Application for AOS. Husband can't find his Birth Certificate! Pls HELP
Hi everyone,
I have just got married to my husband, who is an US Citizen, and have all the forms and supporting documents for the AOS application ready to mail to INS in Orlando FL. We are filing the 1-130 Petition for an Alien relative together with my I-485 Application but he can not find his Birth Certificate. He has no US passport either. I am a bit desperate as I entered the US on the Visa Waiver (I am British) and my visa expires on Oct 5th. He is originally from Tennessee and we are in Florida so it's really difficult to obtain any of the alternative documents quickly instead of the birth certificate.
What should I do? Shall I mail everything else and explain in the cover letter that the birth certificate will follow?
Any suggestions and advice would be most appreciated
Thank you

Try searching for the State of Tennesse on line and see if their website can help you get a birth certificate for your husband

Re: Application for AOS. Husnand can't find his Birth Certificate! Pls HELP
We needed an additional birth certificate (for the retranscription of
our marriage at the french consulate, and the original was with the
INS) and we ordered it from the vital records office in Missouri. It
took us about 1 month to get it.

Re: Application for AOS. Husnand can't find his Birth Certificate! Pls HELP
your visa expiring won't be an issue providing you file all your paperwork
with INS before you are 180 days overstay. Overstays are forgiven as the
spouse of a US citizen.
try http://www.vita-
lchek.com/region_overview.asp?region_id=55 for his birth
certificate. we used that site to get my husband's long form birth
certificate from NJ and had it in our hands within a week (we paid extra for
fedex shipping). Kinda pricey but it came in very handy for getting his
birth certificate fast when we live in a different state than where he was
born.

Simon, I'm the Brit that Bonnie introduced you to. I'm here in Cocoa Beach, came over on a K1 adjusting status at the moment finally got work authorisation last week after 5 months of being married but still no SS number!!!
Bonnie nothing to worry about when you go for your EAD, seems like a freaking zoo, but once you get inside it's basically organised chaos!!
Simon, anyway read your posts on the other messageboard re currys, one of those is just up the road from us and it's excellent - maybe we could meet up there some time?
Simon I also noticed that you are from Ely - well that is where my brother lives, how long have you been in Florida?

Try searching for the State of Tennesse on line and see if their website can help you get a birth certificate for your husband
PS, Where abouts in Florida are you and where did you come from, I am ex Cambridge England and now in Melbourne (near Cocoa Beach) Florida

Fran, thank you. I sent my application in the mail on Friday. I hope this is not going to be a problem for me. You say do not mail it, but go in person to Orlando, have I done the wrong thing by mailing it? What should I expect?
