Default AOS upcoming Baltimore

Hey Newsgroup!
Its me, again- Beth in Baltimore. Husband Paul just rang me at work to tell me we've got our AOS interview coming up on April 2nd. Haven't made him a beneficiary of my 401K yet- but we will have as proof:
the usual- marriage cert, pics, etc.
rent receipts
joint bank account statements- checking and savings
both on my health insurance
joint title on car
car insurance, phone and utilities in both of our names
joint credit card statements

We'll have to do our taxes and quick for 2001, as well. We were married in June of 2001.

Do you think we have enough stuff for "proof" of living as a married couple, or should we solicit affadavits from friends and relations, as well?

Thanks ya'll!

Also used AP for the second time coming across Peace bridge yesterday. (from Canada into Buffalo, NY)
Peice of cake. Had to park and get out and wait about 15 minutes. The officer was very nice and even noticed the Baltimore INS office had misspelled 'indefenately' (sic) on the form. Got out the Webster's dictionary and everything!

We'll be sure to post on the experiences page afterwards.
Thanks in advance for help and advice.

guess I will see you at the Baltimore office on April 2nd, as that is our interview
date too. We will be the Canadian/American couple sitting together bickering with
each other and doing major people watching. :P You should have enough to satisfy
them...we don't have as much as you do, unfortunately the utilities where we live
don't allow for two names on them, and the car is still in just his name, though our
insurance shows both names. We did do our taxes already though, "married filing
jointly" so that helps as well.

Thanks for the tip on the Peace bridge, that's the bridge I usually use when
traveling to and from the US, and they CAN be strict at times..nice to know they know
what AP is and what to do with it!

Good luck to you both, we will see you there, though we won't know who you are! LOL

Is that one of those crab bashing places? You know the ones with the butcher paper on the table and they give you bids and a wooden mallet and dump a bucket of crabs on the table for you smash?

I loved it!

They have normal food, but the crab cakes are what everyone goes there for. It's not
a steamed hard crab. It's a big lump of broiled crab meat.

Well tell each other what you look like and/or wear a flower in your lapel so you can hook up. Would be a waste not to meet one another if you are in the same place at the same time.

Hey ya'll- our interview is at 10:45 am- Mrs. Blackross, is that when you'll be there? If so, and you wanna know what we look like- check out our homepage: http://www.bethandpaul.com

Rete and Mrs. Blackross- good to hear you think we have enough stuff... that's encouraging. If you're around the same time as us, maybe we can all go to lunch? I've gotta be back at work in the afternoon, though. Just met a buncha people up in Toronto I knew from the Lonely Planet (travel website). It was really fun meeting people IRL that I knew from the net. I'll look for you two- what do you guys look like?

And other NGers- any other input- do we really have enough??? I still can't help but be a little nervous, even though I know we have plenty...

And Mrs. Blackross- you won't have to worry about Advance Parole if you don't intend on leaving the country before the interview, once you have the stamp in your passport, its my understanding that you won't need AP anymore.

Hi Beth,

My husband and I went for the AOS interview just last week (March 7th) in Baltimore
and it was quite successful. Please do a search and read my recent NG post of
February entitled: "AOS Interview @ Baltimore (Follow-up)". It'll tell you and Paul
all about our experience. It was quite pleasant I might add. Then, if you wish, read
our experience at Kamya's website.

We wish you two the best!

Omo.

Please do. It'll help those who come after us.

unfortunately ours is at 3pm, and even though we plan on being there by 2 at the
latest and can get there earlier for lunch, if you have to work in the afternoon, you
will be gone by then. just in case though, our wedding pictures are at
http://www.geocities.com/mrsblackross/wed/album.html (crappy websites I know, but
have been too busy to try and be creative with it) and I like meeting people from
online in RL too...heh..that's how my husband and I met..after 1.5 years of chatting
as friends online I dared him to come up from Pittsburgh PA to Niagara Falls Canada
(4 hour drive) for a visit, he did, and we have been together ever since. I have a
concern though....what if Baltimore INS doesn't/can't adhere to the actual interview
time and you end up sitting there half the day? are you able to miss work? I was
planning on going to work in the morning that day and taking the rest of the day off,
since we have an hour's drive from Germantown to Baltimore.

Hi

Hope you were referring to Ms. Blackross and her hubby when you mean to met up. (wish we could join ya though ... love crab cakes) Jim and I finished our bout with INS back in 2000 in NYC and getting ready to file for removal of conditions in two months.

But I know the Maryland/DC area from when my daughter lived there.

Looking forward to see your reports.

BTW I've met so many of my online friends that I can now put faces and personalities to about 36 of them from all parts of the country and Canada. Even met two from this NG who attended our wedding. Have partied with them in San Francisco, Memphis, Elmira, NY, Ottawa, Canada and hosted a few gatherings at our place outside of NYC. So much fun to met people you only know by pix and word and have yet to met one that did not live up to the expectations I had of them ;0-)

Omo-
I read your original post with great interest- I think now I'll do the search and re-read it again :-)

Rete-
No, I know yer in NY ;-) Just me typing quickly here whilst at work- sometimes my spelling and grammar leaves a bit to be desired.

Mrs. and Rete- yes- Paul and I actually met on the net as well- wrote for 6 months as "pen" email pals then, met in person when I went over to London (UK- not Ont.) to take a course. Our first date lasted 9 hours, things got romantic very quickly and the "L" word was exchanged after about a month and a half... I also, have really enjoyed meeting people from the net. The Lonely Planet thing last Friday was really fun- we all hooked up at about 6:30 and the last of us didn't leave until about 1:00 am.

Mrs.- I looked at your wedding pics- you guys look adorable!! I would even venture to say that if my hair was a bit longer, you and I might even resemble each other a li'l bit ;-)

My friends that just had their interview said they had to wait about 20-30 mintues before being called in. If I were you, I'd definately plan on taking the afternoon off, as you are...

I should be okay in taking the morning off... If you're sticking around- maybe we might want to hook up for a pint in Fells Point when I get off work? Ask yer hubby if he feels like stickin' around. I must say, after having just seen the Canadian side of Niagra Falls for the first time last Friday- they're quite something!

Give me a shout at [email protected] if ya wanna hook up...

Here I am married to a Canuck for 3-1/2 years and still have not seen the Falls either on the American or Canadian side ;-( One day perhaps

I'll be passing through your city of Baltimore on the way to Ocean City, MD for a week at the end of April. Going to be taking my Dad on a little vacation.

Have fun on the 3rd and come back with all the GOOD news.
