AOS at St.Paul minnesota
 

I filed my I-485 in person at St.Paul minnesota. My EAD and AP are approved. In the receipt notice of I-485, it says I need to take that notice to local INS office within 15 days and get I-89 filled. What do they mean? I went in person to St.Paul(local office) and filed I-485. Do I again have to go and get I-89 filled? What is I-89? Aslo, any idea of timeline at this office for I-485?

I checked with the INS forms site & no I-89 was listed.
In my district the I485 takes minimun two years if no problems. We have been over 3 years & now have INS problems. It may be another yaer or we may have to start over.

The I-89 is sent from the local office to the service center for the
production of the greencard. This would normally be filled in during the AOS
interview. Could St. Paul have dropped the interview for K-1ers? I doubt it.
I think you may have to make a trip to the office to see what's up with it.
If I were you I would take along originals of all your documents (birth
certificates, etc) in case they really have dropped the interview!

Firstly I think it's unlikely that they have - it's just a possibility. Of
course they may want to see the USC spouse if they have. The details of the
post are somewhat sketchy though. So, they need to go in and sort out what's
what, but just in case they should take the originals with them in case they
will interview on the spot or whatever.

Short answer is I don't know because nobody seems to have been sent this
letter before.

The interview may be waived for I-485s based upon Form I-130 (Petition for Immigrant Relative) for unmarried children of U.S. citizens and parents of U.S. Citizens. It may also be waived for spouses of U.S. citizens, provided that they are applying to adjust status from a K-1 (fiancé/e) status, within 90 days of entry. This policy is also extended to any K-2 children of the K-1 fiancé/e. Those spouses seeking to adjust status from any other immigration status will be interviewed. The INS can also waive interviews based upon I-130 petitions for unmarried children of permanent residents, if the children are younger than 14 years of age. Again, in each case the proper supporting documents must be provided to the INS with the submission, or upon request, in order for the interview to be waived.
