AOS - Columbus processing dates

AOS - Columbus processing dates
I filed a 485/130 in Cleveland in Dec 03, (receipt date Dec 31 2003), then my papers were forwarded to Columbus (receipt date Feb 19, 04). USCIS Website (Columbus) has been showing processing dates of March 5, 04 for 5 weeks, and suddenly the date is upgraded to receipts dated June 2004!.
Im a little bewildered by what 'processing' involves and whether i should have heard or if this is just the way business gets done!?

It's probably a little confusing but the forums are categorized and there is a category for US visas.
If you're applying for an I-130 that'd be a spouse visa, right?
If that's the case, please repost in the US Marriage Based Visas forum (or whichever visa forum is appropriate) on British Expats. Please be aware that the Marriage Based forum is in fact a usenet group and so members of the public can and post to this.
