Default Anyone used Priceline.com for UK flight?

Looking to go to UK next summer and everything I am finding is way over my budget. Everything I've seen has been over $1000. Anyway i had a look at Priceline and I dunno if I am using it wrong, but it's coming up with a flight "offer" in July for $250 return, that's with taxes. This seems too good to pass up.

I know roughly how it works. They don't tell you what airline you are flying with or what time you leave...until you hit that button that charges your credit card. There are no refunds. Am I missing something or are there other risks involved? I am not bothered about what airline it is. I would apreciate any feedback from folks who have gone with priceline or something similar.

Cheers.

I used it once for a trip from UK to USA. It was a good deal. I had no problems, just the slight annoyance that you don't have a choice of when you leave. If you have airmiles you probably wont be able to earn on the priceline flight.

I have friends that used priceline (Major airline guaranteed), NYC - London NYC - Paris, both ended up on Air Pakistan, this was a few years ago.
I only used them for cars, but not anymore.

I've used them 4 times. Once got Air Canada, once Air France, once Swissair, and the best, a direct Virgin flight. Been a couple of years since I used them, though.

I've used it a bunch of times for flights over the pond...... As long as you're not fussy about which time you fly, it's great.... and sometimes... dirt cheap too

Can you specify direct, non-stop flights?

I think so, but if you name your own price, you may not be able to..... although if it's really cheap, sometimes you just gotta suck up the lay-overs... they are usually not too bad if there are any.

I have never paid over $500 with BA flying out of Baltimore and into Heathrow, try a flight from Baltimore (airport code BWI), they have a southwest hub at BWI, you might be able to get a cheap Southwest flight into BWI then pick up a BA flight from there.

Just a suggestion.
