Thank you The K1 FAQ http://www.txdirect.net/users/mike38/k1faq.htm Also have you considered flying to Australia and marrying him there and apply for his permanent residency via direct consular filing? It would take about 3 months and he can enter the US as a permanent resident. You need only be there to marry and file the paperwork at the US Consulate. Rete |

I'm in Houston and we're going through the K3 (spousal) visa route as opposed to your K1. If I can help, I'd be glad to :) Paul E |

timeline and couple questions (K1 fianc? visa)
hi, sorry if i'm asking for a repeat of info - i'm very new to this group (and
finding it has been the best thing to happen to me in a long time - you people are great!) My timeline so far is: Texas fiancé filed 129F July 15. | Sent all packet 3 papers including iv to london embassy beginning August with case number. | Heard 129F approved and sent to London embassy Aug 13. | Check with embassy and hear all our paperwork went on computer at embassy from Sept 9. they say an interview should be about 6 weeks from this date but could be later because of backlog. my questions - reading through some of the threads it seems some people who applied later than this already have their visas? doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency about the timing. anyone done their paperwork around the same time as me? we want to get married in december - any opinions as to how realistic this aim is? thanks very much. i can't tell you what finding this site has meant to my fiancé and myself - just knowing there are others out there going through the same thing. if i can, in turn, be of any help please shout. regards -=- scarlett |
Re: timeline and couple questions (K1 fianc? visa)
I can't promise, of course, but it sounds to me like December will be okay. September 9 was actually my fiance's interview date, which did end up being about six weeks from the date that he sent in his packet to the embassy. We're not getting married until December, but if it is roughly six weeks, that would put you towards the end of October for an interview, or maybe mid-November at the latest is my *guess*. No guarantees, though, unfortunately!
Good luck. cheers, Heidi |
