Hi jk,

You probably won't get a lot of response from people from Peru. At least I
haven't. I don't think there are a lot of us out there . Anyway, me (USC)
and my Fiance (from Peru) probably won't get the NOA2 until after the new
year. I can't tell you how the interview is going to go (I'm going to ask
you since you're going first) I visited my fiance in October and while I
was in Lima I went to the Embassy. I was able to talk them into giving me
the Packet 3 for my fiance. So, here is what they are going to ask you for
when you receive packet 3:

They want to to immediately fill out and return the Biographical Form 179.
Then when they receive this, they will officially "open" your case. They
will call you with an interview date, usually about 3-4 weeks out. During
those 3-4 weeks, you are to obtain/complete:

Form OF156 (in duplicate) and Form OF156-k. (don't sign)
Obtain Passport or current within 6 months of entering US.
Birth Certificate
Police Certificate(s)
2 Photos
Evidence of relationship
Medical Exam (there are 3 doctors in Lima who do this)
Form I-134 - Affidavit of Support (from your USC)

Anyway, I hope that helps some. I did notice the forms they are using are
in Spanish and also are outdated - like some are from the 1980's, but I
figure if that's what they send then that's what we'll fill out and submit.

Cheers,
Angela

Hi!
My husband, Ernesto, and I applied for his I-129F through the TSC in October of 2002 and finally had our interview with the Embassy in Lima the 10 of April, 2003. The interview was pretty much a breeze.
I have written a detailed account at Kamya.com. You can read it there if you like. There are also other accounts there.
Good luck!

you can write me about it - I'm from Peru - married to a Peruvian in Peru recently - processing papers to bring him here. As of March 3, US Consulate in Lima stopped the DCFs

Hi Martha,
You will have to get the K-3 visa for your new husband. I am not too familiar with that process but I know it can take a little longer than the K-1. The embassy wasn't that difficult to deal with. They were a bit picky on the papers would give us to fill out, and they had special days and times to call. Anyhow, it took over 6 months to get the K-1 but mostly because of the Texas Service Center.
Good Luck!
